The Basics of NMR

An important missions of the laboratory is training the next generation of scientists. Our unique hands-on training approach emphasizes project science as well as theory, design, function, and operation of the magnetic resonance technique. This approach allows our graduates to quickly integrate into a new position with minimal retraining. The laboratory has several pieces of specialized magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging instrumentation on the RIT campus. Among these are a MHz NMR spectrometer with micro imaging accessory, a low frequency electron paramagnetic resonance LFEPR spectrometer, an Overhauser magnetometer with base station, a three-axis magnetometer, and a radio frequency imaging coil test bridge. Other pieces of instrumentation are available through our consortium of experts in industry and academia.
