CARBIDE 300R PDF

The front of the chassis has an industrial look with the sides of the front bezel protruding from the rest of the front panel and on the four corners and in a couple places across the front of the chassis there are what appear to be Allen screw heads. They are just there for show, but with the incorporated mesh panel taking up two thirds of this area, there needed to be something to attract your eyes away from that. The top of the chassis is recessed and again offers a very large mesh insert to allow for passive convection or you can add some fans there. On the sides, the right is plain as can be, but the left panel offers yet another mesh area for a pair of fans to be optionally installed. To support things, Corsair chose longer chunky feet that are incorporated into the design as they blend into the shaping of the chassis.

What the chassis does lack in this regard are the grommets and there are fewer tie points. There are seven expansion slots to allow for dual, even triple video card solutions and the option to install up to six mm or mm fans around the chassis will help to keep any monster build cool inside this chassis.

Even though things are simplified, standards must be met. Corsair, even with trimming some of the fat, still offers a chassis that is easy to work with and still offers tool-free options so that only the motherboard, PSU and video cards up to mm long to need the use of a screwdriver during a basic installation while still offering native USB 3.

Newegg is sticking to the same price as Corsair, but out of the or so listings I am looking at, the chassis can be had for much less. If you are feeling frisky, you can try out an unknown e-tailer to me personally, but the listing price may be worth the attempt. A shop called BuyAAE. Everything You Need, Nothing You Don't.

There is a small amount of flex in the side panels if you want to get picky but again we would remind you of its price. Cooling options are as Mr Burns would say "eeeexcellent Smithers" you can have either 2x mm or 2x mm fans in the front of the case AND again in the roof these are optional. Out of the box you are graced with a front mm fan and a rear mm exhaust. Sadly the case does not support the use of the H fitted fully internally, you can fit the H80 easily in the back of the case but this will mean sacrificing the rear fan in the roof. Having the large mesh panel in the roof and the side panel fan mounts does give you a great amount of cooling flexibility but if not used will not only allow dust in but your system noise out. Its a shame cable routing grommets have been left out but with the black internals and the inside being surprisingly spacious there will be no excuse for having a messy system in the R.

Corsair Carbide Series 300R Mid-Tower Case Review (Page 2)

This case changed the case market in a good way, but was an expensive offering as have been all of the top of the line Obsidian series cases released since. Over the years, Corsair has released the Graphite and Carbide series cases that are aimed at different audiences. The Graphite series cases are usually the sleeker eye pleasing designs, while the Carbide series has been designed for function first with appearance being secondary. This means Corsair can keep costs down due to not using exotic metals or tons of design elements. Most gamers and PC enthusiasts want a solid case design at the right price, so the Corsair Carbide series should be of interest to many. The Corsair R might be inexpensive, but it is still packed full of features and is an attractive little compact chassis. We have previously looked at the R and R cases from the Carbide Series.
